Please enable us to support more veterans of the Emergency Services
An emergency service veteran reached out to FirstLight Trust after going through personal difficulties including lockdown with three children. She says, “I got trapped and had thought about calling the charity a few times. I was drained and made that call. I was actually shocked my call was taken so seriously and that within an hour or so I had a friendly, heart-warming, caring person with me for a coffee and a chat, which was much needed. Yes, I have friends and a supportive family, but it was nice to have someone unattached to the emotions and able to relate to my circumstances.
The week after the call, I was receiving counselling and felt they had more knowledge and experience than what I have experienced before. I have made good progress and feel it is no longer required after my next session.
Gary from FirstLight Trust has made me feel so comfortable to call him if I need anything and he is always looking for ways to help and support me. In these circumstances things don’t just get better overnight, it could take some time. The charity remains a safe network of experienced, friendly, knowledgeable, caring and supportive people who I will remain in contact with as long as required and even beyond.
I have mentioned the charity to others I feel would benefit. It is an absolutely amazing service which is much needed. Working in the Emergency Services I see that this area is underfunded and much needed!”
